Barcode Reader
Barcode readers are of the technology just like the grocery scanner at the checkout. A barcode is printed on the card and when read with the barcode reader sends the information to the card access processor. The technology is still used today in the security industry but is slowly being phased out by newer and more reliable technologies. Being as the reader were optical, there were problems with dirty or wet lenses causing the reader to mis-read the card and a service call was then needed to clean the reader lens. |
